Selen Cinus

Selen Cinus.

Selen is an Italian contemporary fine artist born in Sardinia in 1972 and currently based in Norfolk. From an early age, she developed a deep connection to art, light, and observation, spending much of her childhood drawing and exploring the beauty of the world around her.
She studied at the Liceo Artistico in Cagliari, where she earned her diploma and built a strong technical foundation in drawing and painting. Alongside her formal education, she continued to refine her practice through independent study, experimentation, and observation. Early professional experience in architecture and archaeological illustration further shaped her precise eye for detail and form.
After stepping away from painting for nearly twenty years, Selen returned to art in 2013 with renewed focus and artistic maturity. Working primarily in soft pastel, she developed a contemporary figurative style centred on portraiture and the human presence, combining technical skill with emotional depth and atmospheric light.
Her work has received national recognition in Italy through several awards and has been exhibited in both Italy and the United Kingdom. Recent exhibitions include the 2023 Annual Open Exhibition of the Institute of East Anglian Artists, exhibitions with the Norfolk and Norwich Art Circle at The Forum, and shows at The Gallery. She continues to work from her studio in Norfolk, exploring portrait and figurative painting through a deeply personal and observational approach.
