Mary Richardson
I live in rural north Norfolk surrounded by nature. I have been fascinated by wildlife, both as a child and as an adult, travelling to many remote parts of the world to see animals in their own environment.
This has always been a pure joy and something for which I feel very privileged, but I had not realised how much I had observed over those many years. Now in my “playtime” years, following a career in accountancy, I have taken up sculpting and find my love of wildlife is inspiring me again, it was inevitable that my love of animals would be my preferred subject.
I endeavour to capture my subject in a loose style, while using different textures to represent the essence of the animal, hopefully achieving movement and feeling. My pieces are cast in resin using bronze in the cold cast method, also iron, and aluminium, all work being hand finished by myself to ensure the integrity of the work.
Medium: Resin and cold cast bronze, iron and aluminium
Theme: Wildlife, texture, animals
