Jacqueline Smerdon

Jacqueline Smerdon is a self-taught artist inspired by nature, seeking to capture the essence of the world around her through colour, line, and light. While her preferred medium is oil, she also works in watercolour and acrylics, enjoying both plein air painting and studio practice. Her influences include Monet, Van Gogh, Sheila Fell, Rigby Graham, and contemporary painters such as Graham Webber and Martin Kinnear.

During lockdown, Jacqueline created 100 watercolour paintings, selling several in support of local charities. Through this experience, she discovered a deep appreciation for watercolour while raising over £350. Her work has since been exhibited at local charity events.

In 2022, she achieved a Level 3 City & Guilds qualification in Adult Learning and Training, enabling her to fulfil her ambition of teaching art to adults. She now runs regular workshops and delivers demonstrations to art groups and learners of all levels. Jacqueline strongly believes that anyone can learn to paint.
