About Us

Founded in 1885 as the Norwich Art Circle, the group continues the rich artistic tradition of Crome and Cotman’s Norwich Society of Artists. It later became the Norfolk and Norwich Art Circle after merging with the Woodpeckers Art Club, and its membership quickly grew.

Over the years, the Circle has included artists of national and international recognition. Today, it welcomes anyone over 17 with an interest in the visual arts and connections to East Anglia — from trained artists to enthusiastic amateurs.

We run a varied yearly programme of lectures, workshops, sketching outings and exhibitions, offering members opportunities to learn, share ideas and exhibit their work. The Circle is democratically run, with an elected Council guiding its future.
